Krik? Krak! - Edwidge Danticat Very good collection of short stories about the lives of Haitian women. I enjoyed all of them, but my favorite was a story about a woman who found the child she had always wanted.. or so she thought. Many of the women in these stories were greatly affected by the supernatural beliefs that were so integral to their daily lives and thoughts. These beliefs are so well accepted that they can be the difference between life and death. It was very interesting to watch how their lives played out. Another important theme in the book was legacy. Especially the legacy passed down through the women of a family. These stories illustrate that time does not erase the bonds of blood and memories, and in some cases they only strengthen them. Highly recommend!
